“Det Riflede” started as part of Eckhoff’s thesis project while he was still an art student. After he was hired by Porsgrund Porselænsfabrik, he further developed his original thesis project, a teacup made of thin-walled porcelain with vertical relief decoration. This work resulted in the "Det Riflede" tea and coffee service, which was introduced to the market in 1952. "Det Riflede" is now considered one of the foremost Norwegian design classics in the years following World War II, and one of Eckhoff’s most famous designs.

The "Det Riflede" tableware was created using thin, high-fired porcelain to be both attractive and practical while also being affordable. Its distinctiveness was the shiny, thin porcelain, the vertical grooves, and the pearl border decoration on the edge. The grooves are both elegant and classy, which makes the cup itself a decorative element in any home. The tableware quickly became a huge success, despite only having a few pieces. It received a gold medal at Triennale di Milano in 1954.
