Sven Ivar Dysthe is one of Norway’s most prolific furniture designers. During 1951-54 he studied industrial design at the Royal College of Art in London, and in 1958 he established a design studio with his wife Trinelise. His classic achievement, the 1001 armchair, was designed for Dokka Møbler in 1959. The chair earned him recognition from the American Institute of Decoration. Innovating on the 1001 series, Dysthe eventually developed the 3001, 4001 and 5001 series. In 1963-64 he designed the hemispherical chair Planet. This led to the cylindrical armchair Prisma and the glass-fibre reinforced dining chair Popcorn for Henie Onstad Art Centre at Høvikodden. Popcorn was re-launched in 2012 by Fora Form.
ノルウェー出身のデザイナーのなかでも、かなり多作の スヴェン・イーヴァル・デュステ。1951〜54年にかけてロンドン の英国王立美術大学（RCA）でインダストリアルデザイン を学び、58年、妻のトリネリゼとともにデザインスタジオ を設立。59年にDokka Møbler社のためにデザイン した肘掛け椅子〈1001〉は、彼の代表作でもあり、 アメリカ装飾協会の国際賞を受賞しています。その後デュステ は1001シリーズを発展させ、〈3001〉〈4001〉〈5001〉シリーズをデザイン。63〜64年、半球状の椅子〈Planet〉を 発表。ホヴィコーデンのヘニエ・オンダッドアートセンター のために、円形のアームチェア〈Prisma〉、グラスファイバー で補強したダイニングチェア〈Popcorn〉をデザインし ました。このうち〈Popcorn〉は2012年フォラ・フォーム が復刻。また、65年にデザインした積層合板を使った スタッキングチェア〈Laminette〉は、もっとも商業的に成功し た作品であり、2013年Rybo A.S.により復刻されています。
