Rolf Hesland
1926Rolf Hesland started working at Bruksbo design studio in 1950. During the early years he designed a series of armchairs, including Metro and Tuba. With Torbjørn Afdal, he developed the shelving system Veggen de Luxe, which enjoyed huge commercial success. In 1958 he designed the armchair Fox. Unique to this chair were the two layers of stretched leather with a layer of moulded polyester in-between, providing the back with a distinct shape and stiffness. Hesland’s most famous piece is the LP-record cabinet Scala, produced by Bagn Furniture Co. in the late 1960s.
