Tias Eckhoff is one of Norway’s foremost industrial designers. In 1949 he was employed at Porsgrunds Porselensfabrikk where he designed several classic pieces of porcelain. He made his debut with Det Riflede, a pure white tea and coffee service in thin, white porcelain. His Glohane coffee pot with sugar bowl and creamer won a gold medal at the Triennale in Milan in 1957. The coffee and tea set Regent, from 1961, is another notable achievement. As a cutlery designer, Eckoff excelled internationally. He designed the Cypress cutlery range for the Danish silversmith Georg Jensen, and the Eckhoff, Opus and Fuga cutlery for Dansk Knivfabrikk. Maya, his cutlery series from 1960, is an enduring classic and currently produced by the Danish company Stelton. Another highlight is Eckhoff’s aluminium coffee pot from 1964, and it is soon to be re-launched.
ティアス・エックホフは、ノルウェーを代表する実力派のインダストリアルデザイナーです。1949年、Porsgrund Porselænsfabrikkに入社した彼は、伝統的な作品を手 がけます。エクホフの処女作は、厚手の白磁によるコーヒー &ティーセット〈Det Riflete〉でした。コーヒーポットと シュガー&クリームポットのセット〈Glohane〉シリーズ は、57年のミラノ・トリエンナーレで金賞を受賞。61 年 デザインのコーヒー&ティーセット〈Regent〉も名作として知られています。また、エックホフはカトラリーのデザインでも世界的に名を馳せています。デンマークの銀製品 ブランド、ジョージ・ジェンセンから〈Cypress〉を発表し たほか、Dansk Knivfabrikk社からは〈Opus〉〈Fuga〉も出しています。60年にデザインした〈Maya〉は現在でも デンマークのステルトン社から発売されるロングセラーとなりました。64年に彼がデザインしたアルミ製のコーヒーポット も、まもなく復刻される予定です。
