Rastad & Relling Tegnekontor
1943 - 1983The architecture and furniture-design company Rastad & Relling Tegnekontor was established in Oslo by Rolf Rastad and Adolf Relling in 1943. In the first 25 years after World War II, the company was pivotal in developing and raising the quality of Norwegian furniture design. Rastad & Relling became something of a ‘greenhouse’ for emerging interior designers, with Fredrik Kayser, Arne Halvorsen and Sigurd Resell being three of the notable designers to start their careers there. At a very early point, Rastad & Relling established contact with the rapidly-growing furniture industry in western Norway. Gustav Bahus Eftf. in Os, near Bergen, produced many of their exclusive models, including Bambi, a chair series one could interpret as being at the crossroads of industrial production and traditional handicraft. Futurum, a furniture series in pine from the mid- 1960s, was a great success, enjoying high sales for two entire decades.
戦後25年以上ものあいだ、ノルウェーの家具デザイン の向上の中心的存在にあったのが、1943年、ロルフ・ラスタとアドルフ・レリングにより、オスロに設立された ラ ス タ & レ リ ン グ で す 。学 校 を 出 た ば か り の インテリアデザイナーにとって、養成所のような存在でも ありました。ノルウェー西部で急速に成長していった家具 メーカーとの関係を早いうちから始めています。ベルゲン の近郊、オスにあったGustav Bahus Eftfとは、工業製品 と伝統的な手工芸をミックスさせたような椅子〈Bambi〉をはじめ、多くの作品を発表しました。1960年代に発表し たパイン材の家具〈Furturum〉は大人気となり、20年以 上も売れ続けるロングセラー商品となりました。ラスタ& レリングでキャリアをスタートさせたデザイナーは、ほか にフレドリク・カイセル、アルネ・ハルヴォルセン、シグード・レッセルなどがいます
